1979 Rolls Royce Corniche

Description

With the introduction of the Silver Shadow II in 1977, the Corniche likewise benefited from the addition rack & pinion steering , bi-level automatic air conditioning, improved cooling, increased fuel efficiency from the all aluminum 6.75L V8. However, unlike the ‘standard’ Shadow, Corniche was coach built (thus the ‘C’ in the serial number) at Mulliner Park Ward, took nearly five months each to build, and carried a staggering $102,900 base price — almost exactly triple the price of a Mercedes-Benz 450 SEC! As might be expected, these cars were extremely limited in production, and just 326 coupes (including Bentleys) were built in total from 1977-1980.

The Corniche offered here is a superbly presented example that hailed from Southern California before coming to the Seattle area with its most recent caretaker in 2013. The car is the recipient of a freshly complete, total engine rebuild in our Factory-authorized Service Center and it is absolutely ready to enjoy.

The paint shows in truly excellent condition, benefiting from a high quality respray in its original color sometime in the 1990s and sparingly driven since. The interior appears to be totally original, with the Connolly hides showing very little wear, the wood immaculately kept, and even the carpets and overmats still showing extremely well. The car can be considered ready for local level shows, weekend enjoyment, and generally turning heads wherever it’s seen.

Included with purchase are maintenance records including for the engine rebuild, the original owner handbooks and folio, and recent owner history. If you are looking for a premium example of this rare classic 1970s Rolls-Royce, look no further.
